It is an unfortunate misconception that some writers think their publishing company will play a huge role in marketing their recently published book.

Publishers spend a fair amount of money on editing, book layout, cover design, printing and distribution of their author’s work. With that in mind, much of the marketing will fall on the author. Therefore, the author should know how to be resourceful in marketing their own book.

Remember, marketing starts now. You can design and implement your marketing plan before you even begin writing. It is going to take time to build relationships, find out about your readers needs and wants and to develop a fan base of excited fans. If you start growing your readership as you write, when it’s time to launch your book, you’ll have an audience of eager and invested fans.
